Have been cycling since March and managed some good rides 54, 56, 63, and 117 miles...

Have sold my beloved caad 8 and bought a Carrera Tdf for winter...

Although slower and harder to ride how can I improve my performance ...

I seem to burn out a t 35 to 40 miles but manage to get home 56 miles overall...

I am now spinning once a week which helps with hills for sure

Just keep riding, that's all you need to do.
From March to a 117 mile ride is far better then a lot of people manage.

Hated the Matt paint black plus scores a few brownie points plus I can get new supersix evo next year...

If you are only able to get out once a week, have you considered purchasing a turbo trainer to keep up the stamina level over the winter months as turbos are very good for cardio workouts?

I have a young baby so find that most evenings I can't ride as it's simply too dark and miserable so instead my bike is hooked to the turbo and I spend an hour or so spinning with the baby monitor on the side should I need to stop and tend to him. When I do get the opportunity to get on the road I make it count and really push it.

To sum up, improvement will come only with regular riding and hard work or else just learn to accept your improvement is limited for now due to circumstances unless you change them. I.e start commuting.

Once a week isn't enough, but you've done well on that.

Any chance of commuting by bike ?
