What did you think of the Cycle Show?

I went to the Cycle Show at the NEC on Friday with a couple of work colleagues, and we were very impressed by it. There were many new stalls, and it certainly gave the image that cycling is on the up. The organisers did a good job.

And had my first ever go on a full carbon race bike with ultegra/105 (didn't log which) - Rose bikes. Yes, they are a lot better than my aluminium one. But can't justify the cost at the moment.

Tried out a flat barred bike or two. Hate the riding position. I guess that is just me?

Went today had a great day Gems bought herself a brand new Giant Defy 2 only £500. I have set it up and fitted new lights and bottle cage ready for us to go out tomorrow, we both got Catlike helmets and I got the glasses too.

I couldn't get to the bike show!! But I would love to see some photos; if anyone has some to post on the forum?

i thought it was rubbish. just like being in one huge bike shop, hardly any freebies, and everyone trying to sell stuff. the carradice stand being the exception.

Not bad – Mrs Dave quite enjoyed herself too.
Had a ride of a Titanium Spin – very, very nice and had a laugh on a couple of electric bikes.

Not sure I'd go again in a hurry, went to two last year and they're all a bit samey, but a nice change, though not really big enough.

Because not everyone lives in London - to be fair Birmingham is closer to more of the country (if not necessarily the population I guess)

That said, I am not sure I would go to Birmingham for it again...I had a nice chat with my LBS though!

They were were they? You're not confusing selling with people promoting their products are you? You went to how many stands and found that to be the case - I say that because they aren't meant to sell things unless they are in the retail area in the NEC, as per Earl's Court. I helped man the Shutt VR stand and people aren't actually complained that they couldn't buy things. Though I couldn't poooossibly comment as to whether anything changed hands for cash on the Shutt stand.

i've been to a lot of shows/exhibitions in my professional life, in my opinion it was a poor show except the carradice stall who were brill.

I think the NEC is a better venue - it was certainly cooler in there than the EC and it seemed to be a bigger exhibition space. The test tracks (Kids, MTB, and road) were better than in London, but I did note a few exhibitors were missing. The BMX comp was very good too.

It only took 1hour 15mins from Euston and I hope it stays in Birmingham next year.

Not that impressed.
Some good custom fixed speed bikes.
BMX qualifying was the best bit for me.
No Specialised, Trek, or Cateye stands?
I wanted to get hand on with some cycle computers but nobody seemed to offer a good range on display.
Not sure I would go back?
