As I posted elsewhere – I have a Moulton F-frame bike (a Deluxe with the original GB stem) that currently has drop bars, which I want to change for straight ones.

Could someone please tell me the diameter of the bars I should get?
25.4mm has been suggested, but the person wasn't sure.

Thank you

Your current ones are probably 23.8mm with a 25.4mm clamp area. If you change the main diameter, you may need new levers. If you change the clamp diameter, you may need a new stem.

However, most straight bars are 22.2mm diameter. There are a few 23.8 available but they're much rarer (as are 22.2 drops).

Thanks – I'll be needing new levers anyway – blimey, all these different sizes!

So might I be better getting a new stem as well in a more common size, I take it it's a 1" quill stem I need?

It looks like it, but measure it to be sure. Most straight bars are still inch clamp, I think, but you may want a shorter reach with straight bars unless you're getting some that throw forwards (like "moustache" ones).
