Thank you for the prompt response. There does seem to be more than one type of SPD cleat on the Evans website, SH51, SH52, SH55, possibly more. Do I need one type or will any of these fit the pedal?

standard spd, not to be confused with spd sl, which is a road cleat.

these should do the trick, make sure you get compatible shoes too. any shoes that include mountain biking or touring in the description will take spds, as will some cheaper models of road shoes, especially shimano.

User, thanks for this info. My pedals are about 18 months old, so I fear I may suffer the same problem. Were you able to get cleats to fit from another source?

Phoning Decathlon would have been one option, but wouldn't have been as interesting a tutorial on cleats that I've had here, so thank you all for your time spent.

I did email b'Twin today though:-
Votre question :
Hello, please tell me if pedal ref 2899662, your double function
pedals, are designed to be compatible with standard Shimano cleats like
Shimano SH51 SPD Cleats?

Product reference and name : Double function pedals 2899662

Notre réponse:
Further to your request, I inform you that pedals Shimano M424
reference 5744464 at the 39.90-euro price as well as holds Shimano SPD
reference 3170980 at the 14.90-euro price are adapted to your shoe.

I invite you to appear in your store Decathlon usual, a
councillor will present you the product
So, since b'Twin, are trying to make me buy Shimano pedals to suit Shimano cleats, it would appear that they are not compatible - though I also fear that something might have, literally, been lost in translation, not helped by my clumsy question. I will try with a second email in the New Year.

We may be at cross purposes, I was asking after b'Twin Double function pedals, not the M520 pedals you mention. Nonetheless ....

Earlier in this threads history someone was kind enough to post http://www.sheldonbrown.com/shimano.html#spd which suggests that SH56 cleats, like those at http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/product-...520-540-324and-959-pedals--Per-pair-11829.htm are what you need.

Ta
Decathlon do do Shimano Cleats and the M520 pedals but sadly they had no Cleats.

Is £10 a good price for them ?
http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/-51-cleats-3884528/

Not sure what model they are but the look similar to my SH51's

Well, as this thread has shown, I'm no expert on cleats, but gathering knowledge all of the time.

The Sheldon Brown site does seem to recommend SH56 'Multi-release' cleats for the M520 pedal and I would be tempted to take that as gospel - the SH51 cleats, which seem to be more readily available, might work.

If you do take the risk in trying a set of the SH51's, then make sure you test them somewhere safe, so you're sure you can get your foot off the pedal ;-)

Hi guys and gals,
I have a pair of the b'Twin Double function pedels from Decathlon, see http://www.decathlon.co.uk/EN/double-function-pedals-3883519/

I need to get some extra sets of cleats - I've worn down the hex key heads on the set I have, so I can't get them off the shoes that are now falling apart!

Does anyone know exactly what cleats these pedals take?
Hmm, I got a reply from b'Twin today -
Hellow;
Today we have Shimano cleats available in our shops to answer customer's need who bought Shimano or Welgo pedals.
So i confirm to you compatibility with Shimano cleats and pedals Welgo.

Have a good day.

So, SH51 cleats should work. Now I'll have to go out and buy some to prove it.
