Just converted my step bros Charger back from single speed to the original 8 speed rear cassette but he hasn't got a chain for it yet.

I presume a 1/2 x 3/32 will be fine? They seem the most common for sale but wanted to check because I'm not sure about the narrowness of the distance between cogs on the cassette.

Also confused as to why different chains with the same dimensions and the same amount of links are listed for different speeds? Is this for narrower side plates for higher speed bikes/ cassette clearance?

Cheers

If it were me I would just ask for an 8-speed chain of which any type should work. I would recommend getting one with a magic link which allows you to easily split and rejoin the chain without tools.

I believe 8 speed chains are 3/32 inch so yes that will be fine.

Not sure of the answer to your second question as I've never noticed this myself. Can you show an example?

When you buy a KMC chain 6/7/8 speed narrow chain does it come with a link/connector, or do you have to buy that separately

The ones I purchased didnt say they came with a link. But some say they do, so Id most likely go with that. Or buy a link anyway, only a few pound and always handy as a spare.

I withdraw that comment, literally just recieved my parcel and all the chains include a link. Just didnt say that in the description.
