What are those little plasctic bits called?

You know the ones I mean, they slot into the rear dropouts. I need 2 for my Peugeot and can't seem to find any.

I haven't spoken to my LBS yet as I've been at Blackpool Zoo with the family all day

Horizontal dropouts like that usually require an M3 adjusting screw and a little spring (read the Wikipedia entry). Two sizes - long and short depending on what D/Os you have. No idea what the plastic things you're alluding to are.

I think SJS cycles sell them. They aren't plastic though.

The trouble with those metal whatsits is I would have to drill the rear of the dropouts, and that's a recipe for disaster

Ah I see how you got to that conclusion now, no that's not my dropout, just a generic pic to try and illustrate what I'm after.

I'll be taking some pics of my bike later, so I'll put a pic of my dropout up then. I might still have one of the inserts, if I can find it I'll take a pic of that as well.

Spoke to my LBS yesterday and he said not many companies used them, Peugeot did, and lo and behold mines a Peugeot, but he said they aren't necessary, happy days

I belive those inserts were used so that refitting the wheel the axle went in square.

all this reminds me that as a kid my wheels never seemed straight in the frame. My first "real" bike (Orbit Gold Medal) had those forward facing dropouts which still meant you had to get it straight. Eventually someone realised that with a derailleur system they could be vertical. Good news all around.
