What a pain in the..

This time last week I was a Friday Night (ttC) virgin with longest ride having been 34-36 miles. A few hours after completing the 72 mile ride to bognor I had a massage. (Glorious!) First time back on the bike was monday and it did not take long for my shoulders to tell me they were sore and aching! Another brief ride last night and some considerable improvement.

Anyone with any ideas/advice on how not to suffer in future/any more (especially with brighton FRNttC in 15 days)? Or is just a case of 'putting the miles in' so my shoulders get used to it?

I do believe the bike is set up correctly.
