What a mess...

1) Why the fark is my brand new Planet X carbon clincher out of true, if only by half a mm? I haven't ridden it. The rear wheel seems perfectly okay. Am I allowed to farking swear about this?

2) Why, after the recommendations, are KMC chains such daffodils? I've heard some say that the links are easy to well...link and I've found anything but the opposite. I had what I thought were the two links situated right, tried to pull them together and one of them decides to ping out somewhere random and unfindable, leaving me with the possibility of spending half the amount I spent on the chain again to begin with on a ******* link, which didn't work the first ******* time round anyway. Decided to improvise with a SRAM 10 speed but no, that got stuck too, waste of ******* time that was.

Or is it? Do I really need to spend £8.99 on a KMC missing link or will half the ******* link do with half a ******* SRAM link actually do the ******* job?

3) Why are Planet X skewers so feeble that they bend under 1/3 of the pressure of Mavic Skewers, leaving me with no alternative with going for something tougher, that's right, that I have to ******* pay for?

4)Why will I not ride tomorrow?
i) I have no bike to ride other than a winter Giant on a lower gear freeze.

If you guessed i) then think yourself correct (and a lucky **** compared to me if you have a bike that works).

I have no idea what a lot of that means but I'm stunned that xxx gets through the profanity filter!

I'll just leave now...

Unfortunately it's the one word that gets through the swearfilter as long as it is combined with another string of letters. So it'll filter out daffodil, but let you write the string of letters so that we can write Scunthorpe. I don't know about hyphenation. S-daffodil-horpe.

Edit: I do now.

0.5mm out of true is well within tolerances. Nothing wrong with KMC, that might be you as these are the best chains to get. Skewers, well the px wheels are cheap, so expect some corner cutting. I tend to use my supply of 1990's Dura Ace skewers on my two road bikes even on a set of Ksyriums, why, because they are superbe, even better than mavic.

Your language has got picked up this morning. A poor workman blames his tools !

Some KMC quick links seem stiffer than others. I bought the special pliers to undo them, but to connect "stiff-ones" you can just get them halfway and use the chainwheel teeth to get them the rest of the way to fully closed.

Can't say I've ever had a prob with PX skewers - they even grace my best bike.

My apologies to one and all, totally out of order on my part.

A bad, frustrated, workman does indeed blame his tools. Long day, etc etc but no excuse for that. I'm sorry all.

How the blistering kitten did you bend a skewer, or more to the point - why?
They work under tension. You could make one out of string if it was strong and non-stretchy enough.

Not the skewer so much as the handle, just me being anal about the whole thing. I think the link I had with the chain was faulty too, tried a new link - a KMC - and it worked immediately.

Still no excuse though.

Ah, I see. That makes more sense.
I've never had a problem doing quick links up, but getting them undone again can turn into something of a swearfest...
