After going off on black ice a couple of weeks back, I've just been doing the normal commute, hoping the thumb would heal enough to sustain a longer weekend ride.

Last weekend was out as it thumb was still giving me a lot of pain. It also took a turn for the worse as I slipped and fell done the steps to the car / cycle park at work and landed on aforementioned sore thumb.

I couldn't resist getting out this morning, there was a slight breeze, the sun was out, it wasn't raining, 32 miles done and back home for 10am. I'm off work next week, so no commute, but I'll be out to rack up some more miles.

The only annoying thing to happen today was being overtaken by a couple of roadies in the last mile of my ride, and them informing me i should try harder. It was said in good humour, and I had no breath left to utter the witty response that formed in my head

As long as I breathe, I attack.
They were just messing with you
Glad you were out and getting the miles in, it was frosty around here but the roads were clear .Mind you that was a return commute at 3am .

Not so lovely here. The good Scots word dreich sums it up. Grey and quite chilly. Managed a quick 13 miles though but took it easy as I spotted a couple of icy stretches at the edge of the road. At least the days are stretching now so feels like spring is around the corner.

Beautiful day down here to. No bike except a quick mile and back to my dads to pick up the dogs, but a very pleasant 6+ mile walk with the dogs through the woods. ground has dried up quite nicely in some places, others your foot disappears very quickly!

Nice time take an old fashioned bike pump with you and batter them over the head for being sooooooo rude! :boxing::laugh:

Nice here too - for a change.

Short 7.5 mile spin between shopping, football and later on me obeying the 'it's about time you cooked the tea for a change' command.

Nice and mild here too. I went out again today, twice in 2 days within 4 months, woohoo! Winter will be back next week though apperently :cold:

Hi all, the weather in the west of Scotland is cold and fresh today. I had my first ride out with my new shoes and pedals today and it was a great ride. The hills are beating me at the moment and I had to walk twice but I'll get there by the summer. No clipless moments thank goodness I remembered to unclip in time. I'm looking forward to next weekend to do it all again. Back to the indoor bike for the rest of the week.

I too had a young guy pass me on the way back, it only made me more determined to try and keep up with him.

Enjoy your rides everyone and stay safe. :girldance:
