a bike makes.
I picked up my new canondale r800 yesterday and took it for a short spin to a BBQ and back. It was only 4 miles each way, and I'm still suffering the hangover from my dose of flu last week, so I was planning a gentle ride, but I was astonished how fast it felt.
I did the ride in what seemed to be considerably less than it normally takes (it's the first part of my route to work), and even the gearing felt easier, as I didn't use the same low gears I normally use on the fairly gentle hills.
I'm absolutely astonished. I'm considering a short timed spin around the reservoir to check out the speed compared to my flat-bar commuter, to prove it. Whatever it shows though, it feels so good!
