So, about 3 months ago I felt the time had come to get back on a bike, after a break of nearly 10 years. The first ride on my shiny new steed left me disappointed, but wanting more, despite being a quivering wreck after 3 miles and about 15 minutes.

WAVY LINES AND A HARP ARPEGGIO LATER>>>>>

I have just logged my first ever 20 mile ride on Strava and there were 2 segments that I wasn't bottom of the table in! Woohoo, go me!

Anyway, for anyone just starting out, it just goes to show, it gets easier (well, hills never get easier, but thats another story), and keep plugging away, you should find that the miles start rolling by.....

It NEVER gets easier, you just go faster
Seriously though, congratulations and well done. Next stop 30 miles ^_^

Well done that man, smokeysmoo's quote is my response whenever people ask if my riding's getting easier (12 mile commute), I find I enjoy the experience more now I'm a few months in, not as worried about gears/ positioning etc as it all becomes second nature!

Next target distance?

I cant believe what you can do, i have had my bike for 5 weeks and this morning i have just done 40 miles. I never thought i would be able to do that, but i have and loved it.
Just mad at myself for never getting into cycling years ago.

Thats great progress for only 3 months of cycling, and you still have the summer months to come^_^ Or was summer what we experienced last week?

Dougie, if you've just jinxed us for the rest of the year with no summer, you'll be in trouble!

Good progress. I should be getting my bike this week (if my bikes4work voucher ever shows up!!) and have to build up to a charity ride of 250 miles over 3 days in September from basingstoke to paris.
