Perhaps it's time for a "What bike under £1000" sticky thread in Bikes, Accessories, Kit, and Clothing. It seems with various C2W schemes limiting the budget, this is a question a lot of newbies reseach (including myself not so long ago).
Having one thread as a sticky would make it much better user experience rather than reading through lots (especially when us posters get distracted and sidelined with our short concentration spans
)
