Went off between my legs

Swapping tyres over tonight for the dry weekend and I thought I would have a dry run with my CO2 cartridge. Putting Pro race3's onto Fulcrum5's, tight fit, but I thought I was all seated well. Let a little gas into the tube to check for pinches. Stopped gas, saw a bulge, and before I could let the air out there was an almightly bang and it went off between my legs. No damage done, but lightweight Michelin tube sacrificed. Process repeated and all ok. Double / triple checkked that no tube pinch.

Glad I've done it at home before it happens for real. Got 120 psi easily with CO2 cart.

Totally my own fault, and I did try to check at low psi, just put more in than I thought. Good job I have loads of CO2 carts from the bay of e.

The Glue that binds us together.
Have never had to use co2 cartridge but i do carry a couple, always wondered how i would get on if i needed to use one, have thought about a very small pump to carry around just to get a little bit of air in first before using cartridge.

Can blow the little bit of air in by lung power, my CO2 is controllable a little, I try to let it in as slowly as possible,

I carry two pumps, (I know you can get a combined air/c02 pump, but I don't have one). I always inflate by hand until I'm sure everything is ok, then I just use the gas to get the pressure high enough
I'll invest as and when one or t'other of my pumps fail.

I just carry a road morph, gets up to 100 psi in seconds and after my run in with a co2 pump that just blew its contents anywhere but in the valve i shall be avoiding them from now on.

+1 on the Road Morph G. I always carry a new spare tube and a few patches just in case I nick the tube. I'd hate to run out of CO2 if I cocked it up a couple of times.

A road morph is definitely on my shopping list, and while I'd have just bought one a few months ago, economic belt tightening has forced me to re-consider my spending:sad: As such I will get one when I need one, but right now with two perfectly functioning pumps I can't warrant it.
