Wellgo QRD is a clever system that allows you to remove, and swap if that is your thang, pedals in a trice. Instead of screwing the pedal shaft to the cranks you screw these in instead

and then you just pop the hex shafted pedal into place. As shown in this video.

[media]

do a range of different QRD pedals, clipless ones compatible with a variety of cleats, SPD, SPD-R , Look, etc., and a variety of platform pedals as well. I went for a pair of M138 MTB pedals for use on a Brompton as these came with fitted reflectors and my journey to the station is done in the dark. I purchased mine from eBay where they are readily available form Taiwan. Some UK interweb shops do list them or similar models like the M038 but I was unable to find anyone with them in stock. The ones I got are these:

I bought them from Speed Park Cycling Shop (joeyangair2010) and they arrived, wrapped in Taiwanese newspaper, about a week later. Fitting took about two minutes each side. They are supplied with 4 (qty) 0.3mm pedal washers allowing you to alter the angle of the release knob relative to the crank by 90 degrees (one washer) or 180 degrees (two washers). They are pretty smooth running and as the picture shows have a lube port to keep them that way. They come with a handy storage bag and are just the right size to pop into a Bagaboo tool pouch like the one I have on the strap of my Brompton O bag.

In use the paint quality isn't all that, or perhaps I have abrasive soles on my shoes, as it wears through on the contact point pretty fast but the pedals grip well and I find this sometimes a problem with other platform pedals, including the stock Brompton ones with leather soled shoes of the "dress for the destination not the journey" variety.
