And happy that I did !
Well only been riding since April this year & took part in a few sportives & the London to Brighton etc but I fancied a go at a race !
I was introduced to TLI racing @ North Weald airfield on a Tuesday night think they have 12 races per season & this was there 6th event .
So I went along and had a go , I opted to start with the slow group ( vets ) as wasn't sure on where the course went & the 2 fellas I'd joined were in this group as well .
A quick warm up in the heat of 30 degrees & I was ready to go , we made our way to the start line & gathered in 3 groups I'm guessing there was 60/70 entrants .
The fast boys went , then the 2nd group & then us , we was away at a steady pace & it was really comfortable for me & I enjoyed my first 2/3 laps of racing !
After a few laps the pace slackened & I felt I could go faster as the 2nd group ride past us I thought for a bit ( mistake 1 ) & then decided to get on the back of them ( mistake 2 ) it took me a lap to get on & come another lap I was off & thinking that I should of stayed where I was , but guess I got a bit carried away , lesson learnt after 5/6 horrid solo Laps I was hurting & not really enjoying it like I was so I decided to pull over to one side & await another group & joined them for the final few Laps boy oh boy that was better & far more enjoyable for sure !
We ended up racing for 1 hour & 5 Laps & I throughly enjoyed it & will probably have another go this coming Tuesday .
It was a steep learning curve but think I'll start straight away in the medium group & see how that go's this time around .
Anyone thinking of having a go I reccomend it I loved it
