I was trying to diagnose a rattle on my SingleSpeed and found this:

I only got 4,075 miles out of it. PAH! Don't make 'em like they used to etc etc.

Just bend a wire coat hanger, that'll do you for another 4,000 miles.

My touring/commuting bike has 2 of those old bendy aluminium bottle cages. I like those, because they'll hold any size bottle (just bend them to fit).

No so no, Andrew has his street cred to think about.

Exactly, I can't be seen to have any street cred.

Our local bike doctor gave me a plastic one for free

I just went and had a look at my Elite bottle cage. It's only done 3,000 miles but still looks as good as new and ready for 10 times that. Yours looks like it's taken a beating. Have you dropped the bike (sideways impact) at some point?

I've fallen off a few times and one of my clients is based on an industrial estate that looks like it was paved as a concrete homage to Ypres circa 1917.

Whatever gave you that impression? I'm not trying to be a reverse snob, but I have a steel framed singlespeed that I built myself for £70 and a geared bike that cost me £300

...and 37 KOMs
Just the fact you are from Suffolk every body there has lots of money and big houses. I know that because I have been to Southwold.
