Just picked up my first road bike a Cannondale Alu Claris and I'm about to start the big adventure that is cycling...
Can't wait to get out tonight once the traffic dies down and get a few miles under my belt. It may just kill me but I'm going for it!

Plan is to try and get the miles and speed built up then get out with the guys at Leigh Revolution Cycling Club.... Don't wait for me boys I may be a while yet! Haha.

Just done my 1st ride... Nothing major, just trying to get a feel for gears and handling (plus the idiots in cars)
Managed 8.4miles average speed 13.8.
Felt great at the end and could have gone on. Will go again tomorrow as early as I can when there's less traffic..

Padded shorts, saddle at the right height, bottles of drink, take some sort of food with you, plus a mobile phone and a £10 note just in case something should happen. Dont worry what other riders are doing just take care of your self and enjoy the ride..
If you get as far as my house I'll put the kettle on...

Just done my 2nd ride 10.66 miles ave 13.54
So happy with that.. Gonna carry on with that for the next week or so then look to increase distance..
Walking up the Watkins Path, Snowdon Monday, so may be my last ride until mid next week (depending if I survive!)
