Just been for a ride on an old MTB which I have rebuilt from a pile of bits in a box. Great feeling knowing that I am responsible for the mechanical perfection upon which I sit

Just a couple of months ago I didn't know what a spanner was for. Now I don't feel worried that something might go wrong when I'm out on a long ride cause I feel confident I could fix it ( or at least bodge it enough to get home )

Downside is that every time I'm in the LBS I buy a new tool whether I need it or not.

Good on ya mate - I did similar donkeys years ago - ended up replacing everything within a couple of years once it was up and built!!

You always 'need' new tools - I'm a total sucker for a decent set of ratchet ring spanners, a torque wrench or whatever. I have only just about managed to resist getting myself a wheel truieng jig - mostly because I don't have a clue how to work one!!

Well done - tools cost a fair bit, I'm still collecting stuff, and been at it 23 years....
