Weird wheel thing

Put on my new (well new to me) winter wheels this morning. Went out on my normal ride and I'd just climbed a steepish hill when I heard a weird whistling from the front end. After messing about with the caliper to see if it was the brakes, I eventually stopped to find that the wheel was sloping and touching the fork. I undid the quick release and re-tightened it but it did it again. I then tightened it rally tight and it was ok. Is it just that some wheels need the QR really tight or is there a problem with the wheel/QR skewer?

If disc brake....oh yeah they need to be mega tight.

Yep, mine were always doing it until I got a set of beefier skewers and made sure were very tight

I just put a steel el cheapo Allen key skewer from halfords and it's great..holds the wheel perfectly even emergency stops. So much easier than trying to break my fingers with the qr skewer.
