Hi cyclechatters

I’ve stripped and rebuilt an old Raleigh. I’m now reinstalling the cantilever brakes.
The weinmann levers have this little block where the cable attaches. It’s getting stuck/caught on the main housing when it closes (Label A). Should it be going all the way in (Label B)? Perhaps I have connected cable incorrectly?

many thanks

David

It's a quick release. A is its correct position for riding: you push the little tab in as per photo B to allow you to take the wheel out past the brake blocks.

If you pop them off the bars, use some wire wool and Autosol, they’ll come up beautifully. They are really easy to strip and work on.

Thanks Gunk. Yes I really like them - they are nice and simple but so strong.

What type of handlebars are they?
The lever seem to be attached at a straight section of the bars, which won't allow sufficient pull on the levers?
