Until now I have relied upon Metcheck for week by week planning - the 7 day forecast was v useful. However the site seems to be increasngly unavailable.
I use the met office site for general forecasts as well as their rain radar Here
If I need to know if it's going to rain in the next hour or so, I found a Dutch rain radar that lets you zoom down to a very local level. I came across it last winter when we were getting bands of snow from the east and the UK radar stops just beyond Lowestoft which was useless! Dutch Radar Here
That's why I like the previously mentioned www.raintoday.co.uk and www.xcweather.co.uk, rather than forecasting they show you what's just happened - you do the forecast bit.

Amazes me how they can be so different - presumably they are interpreting the same data? I use XC - tends to be optimistic for weather- but Wind Observation Map good for wind direction and strength, BBC - often pretty accurate, Met office - useful rain radar, Rain Today - very good, but limited forecast time. Just checked TWO - new to me - to be told there should be 85% cloud cover here - actually there isn't a cloud in the clear blue sky!
