Wear and tear on chain etc

On my (fixed) commuter, year round all-weather riding, I'm currently using KMC S1s. These are 1/8 chains and you can pick them up for less than £4. I get about 2,500-miles until they stretch beyond 0.75%.

On my geared bike I'm rotating (~500-miles) three SRAM PC951s. These are about £10 each and so far they show no measurable wear at about 3,000-miles each.

I lubricate/clean my chains when they look like they need it.

I can just about believe 1,000-miles on a chain that isn't touched after installation and used in poor conditions but I'd be very (very) disappointed to only get 1,000-miles from a chain which is looked after.

cassette and chain will last me a year or more on my 8 speed commuter, a good 4000 miles plus as i must admit to just running it untill i need to change both.
The nice bike has lasted 18 months and still less than .75 but that only tends to go out at the weekend.
