Ways to waterproof a cycle compter?

As the title says I had to leave my Cay Eye Velo 7 on the radiator overnight as it had become water logged. Does anyone have any useful ideas regarding making these devices more waterproof?

We had a day of torrential rain, when cycling recently in Galloway. Knowing that my Sigma would eventually succumb to the elements, I placed a latex glove over it. This worked, but the downside was that it looked like I was riding along with a condom draped from the bars.

Cling film over the whole lot, secured with a rubber band.

Good old cling film. I didn't think of that. I was going down the roads of sealing the unit with silicon gel
