.......But not your legs (or anything else hairy).

I just wondered if anyone else had experience in using paraffin wax on their chain. I took the chain off my Triban a couple of days ago and after extensive degreasing I thought I would try using molten wax as a chain lube.

Simple enough technique.....melt the wax, immerse chain in wax for an hour or so, remove and wipe before leaving to cool.

Shifting seems a lot quieter and smoother now. Not a clue how the rain will effect it when we get some though. Nor how long the wax will last. I used quite a low melting point wax so this also might have some influence on it

Just wondered if anyone else uses this method.

Sounds like the olden days. I can't remember but wasn't it boiling the chain in a thick grease and then letting it go cold or something like that? Whatever, I ruined one of mums pans and stunk out the house, which is how she knew when she came home. She made me live in the shed for a week (just kidding).

Don't bother. Buy an expensive oil like finish line in a dropper bottle for about £8 for a small amount.

It will last you over 12 months with a fleet of 9 bikes...

Shocking.

Don't get a spray.

Listen to Fossy.

Finish Line Ceramic and it will last you an age, not too mucky and last's a very long time between applications.
