The trouble with waterproof trousers, if you don't have waterproof shoes you'll end up with soggy feet

nowt wrong with getting wet, not made of sugar are we!

I agree if going out for a weekend/evening ride, but for commuting it's not nice to get soaked through.

I use dhb waterproofs (exact model is no longer available, though they were mid-range). They tend to be reasonably breathable, have a nice cut, and have lasted for 3 years (perhaps worn 20-40 days a year for up to two hours at a time)

For really short journeys they are OK but for medium to long journeys they are boil in the bag and/or leak. If I'm going to a specific place that is only a few miles away and wanted to be presentable OT work for me, but for any longer I prefer to just take a change of clothes. Of the pairs I've had, Montane featherlight are the most breathable but least waterproof because of their compact size I prefer to carry them for emergencies. Altura Night vision were highly waterproof and reasonable breathable (for this time of year the latter doesn't matter to much too me) but one wash destroyed the inner liner and waterproofness. I had a Hellfrauds pair as well but they weren't very breathable and leaked behind the knees.

Hi all what type do you all use after some but looking for recommendations

It depends on the nature of the journey.

Single skin trousers will keep the rain out, but you will become soaked with sweat if you are cycling longer distances, even worse if cycling energetically, sometimes referred to as boil in the bag, they are cheap....£10 or even less.

Lined trousers are better if you will be on longer trips and wearing them all day , they will keep you warm in colder weather, but can cost £150.

Woops! HLab was replying at same time as me.

I've got ALDI ones for the commute. They're like bin bags but they do the trick. You've got to get the weather right. I once made the mistake of going for a 2 hour ride in waterproofs. It warmed up and I lost the weight of a small car in sweat.

Cracking a solo.
I use a pair of cheap things which I bought from Sports Direct for when I play golf in the rain. To be honest they're not up to much as I do tend to sweat in them a fair bit, but they do stop the rain from soaking my shorts after running down my jacket, which then soaks up my top and saturates me from the inside out, fashionable and aerodynamic they are not, but for commuting I'm sticking with them for now

I use Altura night vision over trousers and shoes. The trousers have Velcro straps x3 to keep them out of the chain etc. overshoes essential. A must have for commuting, even with a shower at work

It's made worse by the fact that all my shoes have a huge big hole at the top.

Isn't that where your feet go in?
