Recent rainy days have got me looking ahead to winter preperation.

I have a waterproof jacket, but have never really come across anything suitable for the bottom half. I have seen baggy waterproof trousers, but they're not really ideal for road cycling IMO.

What do you guys use?

Is there such thing as a waterproof, yet breathable solution?

I'll be wearing my Altura winter cruisers once it starts to turn chilly again. Not waterproof but warm and quick drying.

Bought some Nightvision over trousers last year and don't think I wore them more than twice, has to be very wet to bother with them as they are boil in the bag, great reflectives though.

For the short ride into work, I'll use Aldi waterproof overtrousers if it's raining: it's not worth the hassle to change for such a short journey. They get unpleasantly boil-in-the-bag for anything longer, though.

Lusso Max Repel tights are good for longer rides: most of the rain and spray tends to bead and run off the surface. More importantly, they stay warm even when they do get wet, and dry out quickly.

I bought a pair of waterproof overtrousers from Halfords and use them on my commute. They do drain into my shoes though.

On my roadbike I wear my normal padded shorts / bibs shorts.

If its very cold I wear tights with sometimes a pair of long leg Helly Hansen base layers underneath.

I still haven't cracked the waterproof jacket yet.

I ride in normal clothes for commuting and during the day so getting wet and then drying out is not an option. I use a pair of Endura overtrousers. They are fairly close fitting but unrestricting and have big zips at the leg ends so you can put them on without taking your shoes off but not have loose trousers flapping around.
