Looking at it chucking it down out there, and at the ziploc wallet I use that came free with Cycling Plus last year falling to bits, I'd love to know how you keep your phone waterproofed in the wet ?

I've taken to putting ICE details, £10 and a debit card with my phone in this little 15cm x 10cm wallet but it is on its last legs.

Is the Lezyne Caddy Sack any good ? What do others use ?

Thanks

Ziploc freezer bags, about a quid for a 100, each one lasts about 20 rides.

The Aquapac cases are quite good and there are similar ones about too. I used to use plastic bags and sometimes still do but they are not 100% reliable as son2 found to his cost once with an Ipod.

Edit: And the cheap phone cases split at the welds, eventually.

Double bag phones.

yeah but the other thing is, with cases like the Aquapac, touch screens are still usable.

His was double bagged, it was on a tour in Scotland and the heavens opened all day. Bags might work in most circumstances but you really don't want to find out that sometimes they don't, especially with the cost of phones these days.

I use Ziploc freezer bags made by Johnson. They have a double "SmartZip" seal which really works well, and the plastic is pretty tough. They are good for cameras, phones and also for single A5 sheets of map.

I use just a standard lunch bag and fold it so water drips down and not inside. If you want to be sure it all stays in place, put an elastic band around it. I use this method because anything bigger will not fit inside the zipped pocket of my cycling jacket. Never had a problem, but my phone / plastic bag are pretty snug inside the pocket so it will always stay in the correct position.
So if your mobile is free to move you need good water proof bag.

Get a Sony Xperia Z, fully waterproof. I have tested this claim by crashing into a deep muddy puddle at Delamere Forrest  and the phone depsite being fully submerged is fine. ^_^
As others have said freezer bags are the most cost effective solution. I tend to stick an elastic band around mine as well just to be on the safeside.

I can believe that at Delamere and sometimes you can't tell. I came across a suspicious looking one once and sent the dog in first. He went in up to his haunches, so I went around it. next time I'll give him my phone case to test while he's in there.

I just got a Topeak drybag for my S3= 100% waterproof they claim. Been through a shower yesterday and fine. Touch screen OK, solid bike mount - £18 on line at Evans IIRC
