Hi All

Now that summer is upon us I am looking for a waterproof jacket! I'm 6'5", fairly slim (43" chest, 36" waist), and have long arms.

I'm after something that is not too boil in the bag and with reflectives for winter riding. I tried on the usual recommendation of an Altura Night Vision in XL and whilst it fitted nicely around the chest the arms were far too short. They didn't have an XXL to try but I suspect it would be too baggy. The version I tried on was the Night Vision Blitz as sold by Halfords - I don't know if the more expensive versions such as the Evo are a better fit.

So, can anyone recommend a jacket that would fit me? I like the look of the Hump Strobe, but can't find any size information. Budget up to £100, although preferably less.

Many thanks

Dave

Gore stuff seems to have v long arms
This is water resistant for example

A night vision would be v warm in the summer. I run cold but even mine hasn't been on since April

Get a few options from wiggle, simple free returns if no good

I've got an Endura Luminite, which is XL and the sleeves are quite long(I'm around 6'1 and would defo be better suited to a Large or even medium.

Perhaps because it is a bit too big for me, I find it extremely hot and uncomfortable to wear.

I tend to buy a jacket to fit my body and at 6ft 3 with a 38 chest the sleeves invariably end up short. I sometimes use arm warmers to bridge the gap, rolled down if too warm. I should get some summer weight ones really.

Got the Castelli Misto jacket recently. Waterproof, breathable, thin and light, whilst still being wind proof. RRP ever so slightly over budget, but I got it for £74 when shopping around last week.

Thanks for the replies.

I should have been a little more specific with my original question - I am really after a winter commuting jacket (hence mentioning the Night Vision). I already have an old Gore Windstopper, and a lightweight windproof (Montane Featherlight), but nothing that is properly waterproof for the winter. I was hoping to pick up a bargain off season, ready for later in the year.

@RedRider - the sleeves on my Montane are too short and I find them really annoying!

Thanks again.

I'd look around at end of season gore deals

Edit: Or this company has lots of deals on pearl Izumi. If you happen to be in London., you can get stuff delivered to the giant store near St. Paul's or they had loads of sale stock in the basement a couple of weeks back http://www.h2gear.co.uk/549/clothing.aspx

Your original post was a little misleading with the mention of summer, I assumed sarcasm

Sure I have the same thing with my montane featherlight so I wear the armwarmers to bridge the gap. I don't like it against bare arms anyway as it gets clingy against skin in the wet
. Good luck in your search for longer arms tho. I shall watch with interest
