When I do a wash, be it bedding or dark wash I use powder and conditioner. I have no problems with that.
Recently I see regular TV adverts showing people throwing some granules into the drum. None of the ads say what or why etc.
So, my questions are......... does anyone on here use them.
If so why and are the worth whatever the cost is.
NB
I have done a Google search but no real answers.

no never used but I have a bottle I got for free. Never used but makes my under my sink cleaning cupboard smell like a summer’s day  Don’t really want my washing to smell like that!

I tend to use the tabs which go in the drum. Stops the soap tray from getting filthy.

Probably doesn't make any difference if you broadly follow the instructions for the product you use.

Thanks but no thanks. I think I'll pass.
As Vickster says, scent boosters. I have never used them. I don't like the smell, it's a rather cloying smell and makes me gag. My daughter uses scent boosters and I hate the smell whenever I go to her house.

As we have a septic tank, I use Dr Okter washing sheet. No great smell, no huge amounts of suds. I think it's better than clogging the machine up and it's just generally better for my machine. They are cost effective as well.

We use washing machine pods - the expensive branded ones are much stronger and we only buy them if they're on special offer. They do make the clothes smell much more strongly of the advertised fragrance, but this might be too strong for some peoples tastes. Whatever the case, I certianly wouldn't use extra scented powder on top of smelly detergent; we dry all ours on a clothes airer with the dehimidifer on and it wafts the scent around, sometimes makes your eyes water as it is

A few times I've forgotten to put the liquid in and left it on the side. The wash has been just the same as when I put it in. I think there's a residue of soap left in the machine anyway.

Many years ago we were given some free ones, tossed them into the washer and when the clothes came out they smelt like a woman’s boudoir. I had to wash my clothes again several times as I was getting funny looks from my workmates.

Scent boosters

In other words some chemicals that add an artificial scent to the fabric

As I have occasional problems with rashes and itches I try to avoid artificial and unnecessary chemicals

Known carcinogens in most detergents. Given our skin is our biggest organ and in contact with everything washed in them, I switched to Clean People laundry sheets. I’ve also been using chemical free shampoo, body wash and deodorant for quite a while too. Sadly we live in a world full of chemicals and can’t avoid them, but I feel every little helps.

I just use a basic (own brand) non-bio laundry soap for machine wash, and liquid soap flakes for hand wash stuff. The sole exception is a scoop of whitener / stain remover for the white coat I wear whilst judging or stewarding at cat shows. But I tend to launder that separately in any case.

I have sensitive skin, and I'd rather not sit there scratching like a baboon, thank you very much...

Exactly like me. I have sensitive skin too and the bio stuff leaves me looking like Brundlefly so I use the on brand non-bio in caplet for and it works well.

We use these, apparently eco friendly, sheets soaked in cleaning stuff. You just tear off a bit of a sheet, throw it into the machine with the clothes and that’s it. Dead easy. Cleans well. And is apparently good for the environment is how it’s produced, packaged and distributed.

Everything's a chemical of one sort or another.
