I need to restock on wash in waterproofer.

I am pretty skeptical of of them both on how well they clean and how well they proof/reproof. But Ive never had the will to test properly.

Normally I buy Graingers 2 in 1 ( as supplied by work for our waterprrof stuff)
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Grangers-GR...d=1453040300&sr=1-3&keywords=graingers+2+in+1

Or Nikwax wash in.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Nikwax-TX-Direct-Wash-Waterproofer/dp/B000Q6DKQO

I usually buy in 1ltr sizes and both come in around the £12 - £15 mark.

What do you guys use? Ill be using on light weight synthetic waterproof cycle gear in the main.

Can't comment on the Graingers stuff, but I use the Nikwax TX Direct Wash stuff on motorcycle waterproofs and it is good for re-proofing Goretex. Not sure about cycle gear; I refuse to go out in the rain. The one thing about Nikwax is that it will cling to the drum of your washing machine for months, unless you do a hot wash cycle after using the Nikwax.

I've used the Nikwax stuff on my Paramo anoraks as recommended by the maker. Does what it claims.
Read the instructions properly though as it supposedly doesn't work if (say) you have soap powder dregs in the wsher

Paramo provides a bit more surface for the wax to cling to. On my thinner windproofs, the treatment is less durable.
I find that I can apply more wax by dumping a (soap) washed item in a bucket of wax emulsion rather than use a washing machine.

Our family has a lot of paramo kit. It's all regularly reproofed using Nikwax Tx after washing it in the machine using their wash solution. I get better, more consistent results proofing it by hand rather than in the machine.

I've used the Nikwax and Graingers wash in products on my Montane velo which is just made from pertex and its absolutly rubbish, jacket would still let water through after a few minutes as if it had never been treated

But after I reproofed a tent with Fabsil Gold, I had some left over so for an experiment I put a small amount in a plastic bowl and thouroughly soaked my jacket in it, which was now past its best and needed replacing, then hung it to dry on the washing line. The first time I used it was on an event and it heaved it down with rain for five hours, the jacket never let a drop in and water just beaded off for the whole duration. The jacket is now even better than what it was brand new when it was only showerproof and now no longer needs replacing, just needs the elastic replacing. Since then all my lightweight jackets have been treated in the same way and all repel water like water off a ducks back. Also apart for my cheaper boil in the bag jackets, breathability in the Montane is still good.

Far easier than messing about with the Nikwax routine of washing, treating and drying in a dryer method.

Huh, I use nikwak on my montane, wear it for everything and never leaks. Also use nikwak on motorcycle stuff and always does the job.
