I just used a brand new factory built mavic wheel for the first time and it pretty much completely collapsed after 20 miles.

OK, send it back for repair or replacement - easy - yes, but not free!

Because I've had the wheel longer than 30 days, I have to pay the return postage even though it's a warranty claim; 1 wheel with parcelforce48 = £15

Worth considering next time you try and save a few quid by shopping on-line, as most items that have a 1 or 2 year warranty will have the same problem - fine if it's light and cheap to post, but not so good for complete bikes, frames, forks, wheels etc.

I'll be using my LBS next time.

I had a rim sent back to Mavic for inspection when the LBS told me it was dodgy, I'd bought it via Wiggle. Anyway, once they'd inspected and agreed it was duff, Wiggle refunded the rim and my postage costs. I'm not sure if this is a discretionary thing or not - who did you buy it from?

They have clearly stated that even if the wheel is faulty, because I've had it more than 30 days, I'll have to pay the return postage.

Use and abuse it straight away......is the answer.......... How can they tell it's done 20 or 500 miles in 30 days...? It's the same some times within that time - you have to pay to send back- that's the issue with big stuff.

TBH I got y wheels from Decathlon - Aksiums and Ksyrium Equipes - because of the "no quibble" exchange - both were at web price, and they are only 3-4 miles from my home !

PS Both have been fine in 2 yrs for the Aksiums, and a year for the Ksyriums......

well, that is the risk you take I get. hopefully the saving in mail order still means you are qids in.

I would write a letter of complaint. 30 days seems too short time a time for a warranty.
