Hi,
Ive just recently brought a Specialized Dolce (ladies) road bike. Its lovely. When I first went out on it I couldnt believe how nippy it is. I shift!!
Anyway Im looking for a cycling buddy in my area who can possibly teach me about the bike and build some miles up with me! Have looked at clubs in my area but they all seem for pros and I dont think I there yet!!

Hi hilda hen
Local here. Afraid I can't help you directly, am stacked-out with cycling commitments as it is. However, have you spoken to any of the clubs? The reason I say this is that I ride with Didcot Phoenix and am not the zippiest guy around, but we try and pair-up our newbies 'till they learn the ropes and come up to speed. I'm looked after a 15 y/o kid last Tuesday who had no problem hanging on our tails at 20mph! One of the Oxford clubs may be able to help bring you on quickly. Also try the local CTC, they might be able to help with a cycle buddy too, or ask in the bike-shops.

We regularly ride in Oxford on Friday and Sunday nights, the roads are quiet, well lit with plenty bus-lanes, so even in the winter it's a good training ground. Also you have some good climbs nearby, like Cumnor hill and Hurst hill rise. Enjoy!

Hope you find a riding buddy soon.

Thanks for your reply. I think you are right and I should give a couple of the clubs a ring to see if they may be able to help! I will have to just carry on going out on my own for now. The didcot club seems very good.
