I'm looking to upgrade the missus bike as a surprise - could be dangerous!

She is only 5'3" but has long arms for her height, started out with a Trek Lexa SL but more comfortable on the mens frame she has now as less 'tucked up' - with the addition of a WS saddle. Currently riding a part alu part carbon frankenbike with Ultegra/105.

Show me what you've got people!

I don't know how I've posted this 3 times! Can someone please delete the other two?!

How much do you want to spend? Presume you've looked at deals for new bikes online? As you say, a men's bike might fit too

Tbh you should let her choose the bike, we women are fickle beings and also want to be able to make our own choices. Give her the cash as a surprise, let her try bikes out

Or get her a frame from Planet X and build the bike from the parts on the other bike. What are you expecting from the carbon bike over the one she has...especially if that one suits her

The current one doesn't suit her and to be honest I don't know what I'm doing enough to build one from scratch although I do see the appeal

£1,500-2000 - maybe more if perfect in every way?! Had a bit of a look online but assumed I'd get a better deal secondhand and I know she'd rather the money was on a better spec 2ndhand than a new lower spec

Insert witty title here
See my advert for the Dolan Hercules SE. It may be a little large, (48 cm frame, but sloping top tube, so equivalent to 52) however my son is currently riding it, and he's exactly the same height, we've just shorted the seat tube, moved the saddle forward on the rails, and put on a shorter stem, leg length wasnt an issue, and if, as you say, your wife has long arms, it may be a good fit.

As you say, better value secondhand, since you'd be getting a £1.699 bike for £750, and professionally fitted to your wife. We're in South Oxfordshire, I don't know if that's convenient for you to come and have a look?
