How much faster? are you reasonably fast to start with? How much money can you throw at this goal and also are you at the peak of your own physical fitness before tinkering loads with the bike.
most of all follow the above advice and ride more.

Before we all start guessing give us some facts. Distance: what's your average ride? Speed: How do you currently track it and what do you average? Do you want to become faster over short or long distances ? Last but by no means least, WHY do you want to become faster, what is the driver behind it ?

Ha ha ride more?? Ride every day almost. Average ride is 60miles and speed is 19-22mph. Want to get my average speed up as competing against my mate who had longer legs than me so is quicker. Bit of a thing we've got goin on between us. Feel I could be losing power by bike not 100% setup. Would better pedals make a difference.

19-22mph over 60 miles?

And your mate is even quicker?

Come and do that in the Peak District

Seriously though, considering a pro peloton averages around 25mph (roughly), if you can average 22mph then I doubt there's much you can do other than ride in a group, then you'll be hitting 25+ and can join the tour.
