As the title says I'm thinking about getting rid of them on my Boardman cx comp and was wondering if anyone has any advice.

I was wondering if I could do it without removing the bar tape, poss just put inline barrel adjusters in there place or not ? Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Yes can be done, just need to pull the inner brake cable out until it clears the cross levers, then add required ferrules and the inline adjuster and re thread everything again. At most you may need to unravel a bit of tape to get some clearance. Chances are you would have extended the cable travel. If you have enough spare cable at the brake caliper side you'll be fine, otherwise you need to chop some of the outer cable leaving the barrel adjuster (make sure you clear the inner cable before cutting the outer!).

I did it as I hate the things but I used new cables to make the job nice and neat. You might get away with the bar tape if your carefull but that depends on how old it is and how long its been on there.
