Vulcanizing Solution

I got my first p**ture in just over a year today (circa 7500miles but 3 bikes). I swapped the tube no problem. When I got home tonight the couple of tubes of rubber solution I carry had become solid. How long should rubber solution tubes last? I wouldn't want to rely on it on road only to find out it'd went hard.

unopened they should last for years but once the air gets in no more than two or three months probably. having said that i have a tube of 'stronger than wood itself' glue that I've used on and off for years for household repairs.
