dear all

Is it possible to take the above detailed maps of the cycle routes of France and get them to display on a Garmin edge 1000-does anyone know how to do it? Tried some of the usual open source maps and can't get them to work

Thanks

I have never tried - but have you looked at OSM? http://garmin.openstreetmap.nl/

Hi
I have and I can't get the img file to be recognised on my Garmin 1000-it disappears into the ether

Kind Regards

Take a look at http://velomap.org

I got good OSM based maps of France for my Garmins (60csx and Oregon) from there.

I can't be sure of the voie verte coverage as I've only ridden on the roads in France

Hi

Perhaps I'm not unzipping yet the file does have an img suffix-I can never see the file in maps to enable it-is there a way I can check its unzipped?

When you first got the file from the website, you should have downloaded it as a zip file. You then need to extract the zip file (usually done by just double clicking on the file). This will extract a file that should have the .img extension (although by default your operating system may hide this).

I think at this stage it is better for you to start over and download the file again and follow the instructions posted at http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2013/05/download-garmin-705800810.html very carefully. If you get really stuck, let me know the area you need data for and I can create and host the file for you.
