Afternoooon,

I was warned off Rubino tyres by a couple of people I know due to their shocking lack of grip (particularly in the wet), this was a year ago or more, has anybody had any more recent experience of them as they have supposedly been "upgraded"? I was looking for a VFM winter tyre

Cheers

I've been using them as Winter training tyres for several years and have always been quite happy with their grip levels
- they're excellent, considering how cheap they are and how long they last and how puncture-resistant they are, in both the dry and in the wet
- if maybe not brilliant when the roads are in-between 'greasy', neither wet nor dry

Now if you want a tyre that has no grip in the wet, try Conti GP4Seasons, which I binned as they were so awful...

Never had problems in the wet with either the Pro's or Diamante's. And have ridden many miles in some shocking weather on both.

Thank you........they are a stuffin good price, will give em a go

I find it's always best to try for yourself rather then give in to other peoples uninformed opinions.
If they don't work for you, you can sell them on here/ebay easy enought, there would be a good few takers no problems. (Blue ones? I'll have them off you

Ive never had a problem with 4 seasons other than the cost, Rubinos seem much better VfM. My mate uses rubinos pros on his bike and has never had a problem, my 3rd bike has the plain rubinos and its only used when weather is really bad (it had GP4seasons before) I can't say I've found either bad in the wet.

I have a Pro on the back at the mo and I'd echo the earlier post - pretty good in the wet, ace in the dry but I have had some wobbles on 'greasy' country road corners, compared to my previous tyres, which had more off-center tread. So just be careful if the road looks dirty. There's a Pro 'Tech' now with more sidewall protection apparently.
