I have always enjoyed watching cycling on the TV but only recently purchased a new bike. There seems to be some great vintage jerseys for sale through different outlets that have took my eye. Being a newbie my question is this would I look a fool in one out on the road?

Don't you worry what others think, just go out and wear it if it appeals. Are they geninue or replica? Anyway these days anthing more than five years old is "vintage". Watch out though you might find yourself hankering after a vintage bike to go with it, check the Vintage section on here.

Happy days, to be fair not sure if there replica they just look loads better than current ones. I like the fact that the older ones say 15-25 years old has loads more sponsors and a lot to look at.

You would look less of a fool than if I spotted you looking like this, then again there will be someone here who does TT and feels that they look the beeshttp://reviews.roadbikereview.com/files/2008/08/tom_tt.jpg

Wear what you like. Just bear in mind that anything white or any other light colour will, invariably get dirtier quicker (I'm thinking of a certain *not vintage* AG2R jersey I have which turns out to be a muck magnet). Also, as I found out with another jersey one time, the colours of the real thing can be much brighter than in the picture on the internet. A bit startling at first, but hey, if it helps get you seen on the road, who cares?

I only really know about jerseys as I refuse to wear shorts owing to the fact that I doubt the world is really ready to see me in them, let alone a one piece just yet.
