Hi all
I'm building a fred pratt ( english) racing bike and looking at chainsets to fit .
The bike is circa 64/5
I'm looking to do the biuld on campag and have 2 queries

1 . Can anybody give a list of campagnolo chainsets from this era

2 . I know chainsets come as doubles and triples compacts
But are the teeth a different size for different speed chains
I'm thinking more vintage size than modern
Thanks in advance

in 1964/65, it was 5-speed freewheel (not cassette) at the rear,
And likely the OLN between the rear drop-outs will be 120mm so a 5-speed block (freewheel) is all you'll get on (without 'setting' the rear triangle).
All chainsets into the '70s will be compatible, in fact i think, if you are not trying to stay 'decade aligned' that any chainset up to nominal 8 speed (square taper) will work.

That's a big help @Ajax Bay
I think im going to find it hard to find a chainset thats not worn from that era but finding one thst is close to and even one thst needs work will suit
At least now I have a size I can aim for

'Bike Riders Aids' from 1962
will give you an idea of what the bike shops stocked in the early 60s. You may be able to find the '64 Aids online. I used Williiams fluted cranks with TA chainrings on my Gerrard around that time, everything else being Campag.

Many thanks @youngoldbloke
That's a great insight and great guide for things to look out for and get for my biuld also any other biuld of that period
