Hi, i'm wondering if anyone can help , i bought a Viner Perfecta frameset 3 months ago which i have put a nice spec of components on, Ultegra SL Groupset, Fulcrum Racing 3 with Cont GP 4000s, Ritchey WCS Bars, Stem and Seat Post, Fizik Aliante Saddle and Look Keo Carbon Pedals. As much as i like the bike i'm looking at going back to Triathlons so thinking of selling bike complete or would it be easier to sell just as a frameset. I bought the frame with out doing any research, i get the feeling that these are not popular bikes and i'm probably going to have difficulty selling.
The bikes only covered around 500 miles.
Hope someone can shed some light for me.

Viner is a well respected name. List it here and on Bikeradar and you should find a buyer if your price is fair. You might do slightly better by splitting it up but I'm not sure I'd bother.

Why can't you just use the Viner for tris? You don't have to have a 'proper' tri bike - for one thing you could easily alter your position on the Viner and add tri bars.

Personally unless the frame is a bad fit I'd keep the bike -I'm sure that with a bit of component tweaking you would have a really good bike.

I don't know how much you would get for the frameset - I suspect that if you put it on eBay without a reserve it will go horrendously cheaply because as you say the name isn't that well known in the UK. Putting it on as a complete bike would mean an even greater loss IMHO.

Thanks for reply, i have seen this frame on some sites built up as cyclo cross and track use so maybe selling as frameset may be best. I'm not looking for a tri specific bike but more of an aero road frame like Kuota Kebel. I paid £1500 for Viner Frameset in sept so hopefully i wont lose to much.
Thanks for help.

'Not popular bikes'.....well, they're not that well known. I got my Magnifica for a snip for that reason, I should imagine. But those of us who've bought Viners, more often than not, love them- over on BR, myself and a couple of other owners tend to answer any and all 'which road bike' queries with 'a Viner'. My LBS, Velocity in Portsmouth, is a dealer, both highly enthusiastic about them and shifting more than a few. There's also a highly complimentary review of the Perfecta on BR, you should link to that if you do advertise it. Get the listing right and you won't have a problem shifting it at a decent price.

Hi StuAff, well after looking at Velocity site i'm kind of loving my bike again, see i only got the frame on a spur as i originally had an Orbea Orca which sadly had an issue with the paint work which was luckily backed by their warranty, but after this i was apprehensive of having the same make again so seeing the Viner in the shop(Epic Cycles)i exchanged to it. It's a beautiful bike but i checked Epic site the other day and it seems that they dont seem to be selling many of the models anymore thus making me have doubts that i made the wrong decision and am stuck with a brand no one really has interest in. Velocity seem to be the ones who are really in the know.
Cheers, Dean

I'm not quite sure why Epic don't have all the models listed at the mo- they had the full 2010 list up, then switched the page- but they'll still stock them all...Friend of mine got her Maxima there, she raves about them and the bike! You got it right, honest! Velocity are of course excellent too (when the lottery numbers come up I'll get my Maxima RS from them! ;) ).

Good luck, but general rule of thumb is that you lose 20% when you take it out of the shop then another 20% once it's no longer the current model...
I'm another one who can't see why you wouldn't use it for tri, unless it's a bad fit. If you do sell, how many of the components could you use on a new frame? That's what would decide the frame/bike question for me.

Holy zombie thread revival.....if you want a Perfecta and your frame size is a 55cm or thereabouts, Velocity have an '09 model (still on sale in 2010 model as the Volata), brand new, full Chorus group, Viner Caesar wheels, for £2475.

hi StuAff

bit out of my budget for a complete bike, i was hoping to get a frame as i have a centaur group here and Campagnolo Vento and Eurus wheels and other bits, so could build a very nice bike
what do you think of the magnifica, i have a chance to get a frame for what i think is a reasonable price
i am looking for a bike that i can race on and do the odd TT but i dont want a really race specific bike as i would probably end up having a lot of psacers below the stem and / or up turning the stem
but while i want a more comfortable ride position, i would still like a bike that feels "fast" will the Magnifica be suitable
i will not have the chance to ride one as i dont know anyone that has one and their are no dealers round here

thanks
