Hi All

I am looking for my first road bike.

I can buy a Viking Roma for £239. Site says it should be £399.

Does anybody own a Viking?

Are they worth the money?

I bought a Viking three speed trekking bike last year. It needed assembling properly and a few parts replacing before you could use it for real (tyres, brake blocks and bottom bracket), after that it was quite usable.

There was a good bike in there hidden under the poor assembly and cheap components (but it was a cheap bike).

I was going to give the Torino (the slightly older one with the black forks) a go when I had to get a new bike but couldn't due to one thing or another. I'd still buy one if I "needed" another road bike.
I do the occassional check on Ebay to see if there's any Viking stuff near by up for sale, they'd be a great basis for some of the projects I plan to undertake. The Giro D'Italia looks lovely if you don't mind shifters on the down tube, saw one locked up in Oxford the other week.

Just bought my 11 yr old girl one for her xmas, I must admit, I was very impressed with it, very light weight compared to her old steel halfords steed. She has seen it and had a quick ride on it to ensure that it fits and she cannot now wait for Santa to officially deliver it.
