I know saddles are various shapes & sizes & they're as individual as gloves & shoes etc, but once you've been sized up how do you know which saddle will be comfortable for you barring a good length ride out on it ?
Or is it just a case of you pays your money you takes your choice ?

I just did what almost everyone else here appears to do and bought a Charge Spoon. I love it!

Looks like a nice saddle, but would it be ok for a road bike and 30 miles a day? Google suggests it is a mtb saddle.
Not sure about it being a Mountain Bike saddle, I have a spoon on my Hybrid and my road bike and have done a few 100 milers with no problems. It's a great saddle but as you say, saddles (and bums!) vary from person to person. The only way to be certain is to give it a go.

It does look very nice and stylish so I just might. What material is it? Shape looks very similar to my tribans.

Price is definitely the standard Charge Spoons strong suit.

Cheap to buy, and easy to sell if like me you just don't get on with it.

If you buy used you probably shouldn't even lose any money, it's as safe a saddle bet as you'll get IMO

I've used a brooks team pro for a year now. Never going back to anything else.

I think most of us have owned a spoon at one point, a few of us the same on! *points at Andrew*

I got on well with mine until I lost weight and needed something much harder. I don't really think there's any such thing as a 'road' or 'MTB' saddle. It's just whatever fits your backside, and even that changes over time.

I got my tourer bike about 4 years 3 months ago, and it came with a WTB Speed V Comp Black saddle. It's been ideal, and once the outer skin started breaking last year, I replaced it with the identical brand and model. I've done 55,000km on this bike over that time, and the saddle fits perfectly.
+1 to the padded shorts, though - definitely recommended on long rides, or if like me you do long distances each week commuting.

Remember a new saddle needs time to be "broken in" and might not become comfortable until after a period of time in use. A lot of people forget this and after a ride or two think "No it's not for me" without giving the saddle and your ass time to adapt to each other.

I don't think moden plastic/foam breaks in. It either fit's or it doesn't. I do find that you can get used to any saddle though.

They do cheap ones HERE for about £18 and Titanium and leather ones HERE for about £70. Obviously if you shop around you may find better prices. For the record both of mine are the cheaper version and work a treat
