I always just sent the cash for these events. Sometimes you get acknowledgement that it's arrived, sometimes you see your name appear on the start list and sometimes you hear absolutely nothing.

But it's always worked and when you line up with all the other entrants at registration, there's always been a 'race number' for me.

I'm in the same boat. Two of us are having a go in July. I think I will probably pay it via the transfer system. the extra cost won't be as bad between two of us.

It's been on my TODO list for a while now. Unlikely to get a chance to go over there this year, and next year's visit to France will be for PBP2011...

I've climbed Ventoux once (from Malaucene, descended to Bedoin and then round the bottom back to Malaucene). Great fun although the novelty may have worn off after the 3rd (but easiest) climb from Sault.

Ventoux 3 times in one day????
Nutter. You want locking up, you do.
That's seriously unhinged.

I did it last year...I want to do it again now....I seem to of forgotten the pain...
We paid via my mates French chequebook I think (he has a house in Normandy)

The second climb is the hardest (doesn't matter where you start as imo the climbs from Malaucene is just as hard as from Bedoin. We did it from Bedoin to Malaucene then to Sault...the last climb is very long and repetitive and you have to do the killer last 5k just like from Bedoin. It took us 8hours 30 to do it all and it's well worth it as I've been sooooooo proud of myself since. Also well worth sending your money off as just looking at your name on the net to prove you've done it is worth the expense. Apparently less than 100 people from the UK have done it???
Also a good heads up for a chill out the day after is a place called Lac Paty between Bedoin and Malaucene...good swimming and cooling down in the summer sun...

And take LOTS of water and a big brimmed hat..You might look daft but 8+ hours in that sort of heat will seriously mess you up...

OMG I thought I was sort of cool to consider doing ventoux this July. But I am planning on doing it once. Not twice and certainly not three times!!! Good luck!!

Got all the stuff from france today. I ended up sending cash (euros) and it only took a week for the reply. all Ive got to do now is work out what the instructions are. My French is limited to ordering various types of alcaholic beverages!

I live about 50km to the east of the Ventoux and this is a customer of mine, so if you think the Ventoux is difficult once, twice or three times in a day why not try it four times:

Somehow the Signale de Lurs the twin sister of the Ventoux always gets left out, there are time trials up it and of course Paris Nice has climbed it:

Scroll to photo number 13 to see the Ventoux which looks deceptively close.
