I am thinking about upgrading the stock wheels for my new bike..

Are the Campag Sciroccos worth the extra money over the Campag Ventos?? Does anyone have any experience on either??

I have Ventos and Zondas. Both have quite noisy freehubs (which I like). The G3 spoking makes the rear wheels incredibly rigid. I prefer the radial spoked front - there is also some engineering reasoning why G3 on the front is pointless.

You just need to ask yourself if the extra money is worth a 30g saving!!

I know there isn't much of a 30 grams isn't much of a saving but for the extra £80 are you getting a wheel that runs better???

Ventos it is then, for the time being anyway. Thanks for the advice Will 1985..

Whilst on the subjet of wheels is there another good budget wheelset out there around the £200 mark? Must be Campag compatable...

Check out the Mavic Ksyrium Equipe - about £260.

Also check out the wheels on eBay.

I use Zonda's - worth every penny IMHO.

WC Minor has had a pair of Scirroco wheels for several years. They've been on several bikes. He's even used them doing cyclocross. They are as tough as old boots, seeming to take just about anything thrown at them. Shortly after he got them, he got the front wheel stuck in a tram track and he went over the handlebars... the wheels came off better than he did, staying true.
