You can remove the decals using Acetone either bought from your local chemist (If they have stock that is - and they do ask what you will use it for) or you can buy online. I bought from Amazon, cost's about £3.00 for half litre, and that is more then you would need.
So once you have the Acetone, get yourself some kitchen Roll. Soak in Acetone, apply to the decal and hold down for a couple of minutes then start to wipe. The transfers will then start to lift.

If you change your mind and want to put decals back on Van Nich do sell them on their webpage.

I do like Van Nicholas bike and if i had the cash it would be a hrd choice between that and a cannondale

Only if you aren't attached to the pain scheme... acetone is a rather good solvent, and will remove lacquer from carbon frames. Make sure you don't get it on any plastic part either if you don't want it replaced.
