Valves - is this OK?

I had a puncture last week, so swapped the tube.
However the original Giant tubes had this little collar around them where the valve met the wheel:

But the new Halfords inner tube doesn't have any way of securing it and there is a tiny gap around the base of the tube, which allows the valve to move ever so slightly if I push it:

I'm used to valves having a little collar to tighten up against the rim, but this doesn't have one.
Is this going to cause a problem? I've been out on it today and it seemed OK.

The wheels are Giants own PR2's tubeless ready, but I'm running tubes.

Thanks

I've not used collars in years. Never had a problem.

I prefer a collar for stuffing on the track pump, not least because the lever fitting on mine requires two hands so trying to stop the valve disappearing into the rim as well is not easy.

But apart from those inflation issues, there's nothing wrong with your installation.

Think of the weight you've saved. (edit: PeteXXX - great minds think alike :okay:) Get rid of the dustcaps too. You'll be flying along.

Surely they're needed to balance out the mass of the rim joint. Without them the wheel's centre of mass will be hopelessly off centre and they'll wobble about all over the place.

Apparently it's 'The Done Thing' to ditch 'em. Just saying is all. I agree with everything everyone has already said. Short valves on deep rims can be particularly pesky.
I think the little collar only really helps when blowing up from flat, and you can easily work round this by placing your thumb on the other side of the valve when attaching pump. I often don't bother fitting the collar.
If you use them then, don't do the collar up fully else it can hold the tube deep enough in the rim well to push the bead off.

There is a sort of collar with a bit of a bevel that can hold a tube away from rim burrs, but that's about the main useful one that I can think of.
