hiya, Im considering converting my MTB to disc , the pic is of an A2Z converstion adaptor mebob , Ive seen other things on web sites , has anyone tried this converstion, and was it ok a problematic ?
Open to responses !

I think @I like Skol did one.

There could be loads of problems:

-wrong spacing in rear triangle (130 vs135)
-discs could rub on stays
-likely to require an adaptor to be mounted onto an adaptor (post to is)
-frame may not be designed to take the braking force and could be stressed and failed
-if you run guards and rack you will need to adapt the stays and rack to fit round the caliper

Stay away from this - our workshop experience tells us it will create problems for you 99% of the time - stick with your V's

I wish I could fit V brakes on The Boy's mountain bike.

He has mechanical discs, and they're crap and heavy...

So many points of potential failure in that setup

Replace them with hydraulic ones then...

I upgraded my cables to Shimano M615s, about £30 per end and so much better (also upgraded some TEKTRO Hydraulics to these too) dunno how old your lad is, but I am blessed with small hands and these have adjustable reach so perfect for smaller hands.

Ive decided the best way to solve this , getting this frame !! Got the mebobs already welded on ! + spare idrive , downhill chainrings , , bargain !
Think I will change the Kermit colour scheme though !

In the recumbent world there is a similar set up to allow larger wheels!

They allow a 559 wheel to be placed in a frame designed for a 406
