using larger inner tubes

I just "upgraded" to 26 x 1.5" slicks from x 2.1" knobbies. I'm going on my first long group ride tomorrow and forgot to purchase a spare inner tube when I upgraded... opps.

Can I stick one of the old 2.1" tubes in my slicks in the event of a emergency as I won't have the liberty of finding punctures and fixing them on the side of the road as I would keep the group up. These tubes are for 1.90 x 2.1" tyres. LBS shop shut now and its an early start...

If you use an oversized tube, it's worth taking more care than normal to make sure that the tube isn't trapped between bead and rim.
