Uploading routes/courses to Garmin Edge Touring plus

Hello, could anyone help with this problem?
I have the above Garmin and I've been happily creating routes, but fancied importing a route from here http://cycle.travel/
I create a route, and then download it, so far so good. I then go into Garmin connect and try and import it, but every time I try the connect just say "undefined" with a red X. Tried putting the file into the new files folder in the device folder and when I open the Touring up and look at the course it shows nothing.

Tried .tcx and .gpx but still nothing, any ideas what i'm doing wrong?

many thanks

Chris

No idea... But is there any reason you don't just create the route in Gammon Connect instead?

I remember trying to do something similar a long time ago, and having to find a second Internet site that converted GPS files from one type to another - can't remember the tyoes though so not particularly useful!

I'd search Google for "GPS file conversion" and try a few other file types, see if any of those work.

Also try putting the files directly into the Course folder on the Garmin. Good luck!

As copper cyclist says above, you could try dragging them into the tracks or routes folder on the unit itself.

Either that or save them onto your computer, use garmin basecamp and import them into this, then just select the device tab, then send to device.

Right I may be being a little thick here but I don't seem to have basecamp, I open GC and then select create course, this then gives me the annoyingly small map page that is either Google maps or open street map, can't see a basecamp (just googled it and will download). The files themselves form cycle route are already TCX or GPX so they should already work? I've tried dragging and dropping them into the Touring plus new files folder, but when I go to courses on the actual unit it shows it as a course in name only, no map, no distance just empty. I've tried converting the file through this http://www.gpsies.com/convert.do but it just tries to open it in I.E.

It seems to be a bit of a faff (and an utter mystery to me at the moment) and I can't believe that it should be this difficult. The reason I want to download a route is that doing it only the hugely annoying tiny non full screen GC map is just that, annoying. Why in all that's Holy did they not make that a full page?
And if I do manage to download it will I be able to view it as a course or will I have to sync it as an activity, then view it and edit it to make it a course I can then view on the PC?
So many questions, sorry.
